Workshop Resolutions from Feb 3-4 National Conference

U.S. Wars, Iraq & Immigration Workshop:

Most participants had an opportunity to express their thoughts about the disconnect between the "peace" movement and the struggle of immigrants.

All expressed the absolute necessity to educate the anti-war movement to all the other wars of U.S. imperialism - which cause the migration of peoples all over the world.

Specific action to address their issue:

1) Formal call from the conference to all national anti-war coalition and to the peace and justice movement in general to fully support the May 1 Boycott actions.

2) Official endorsement from conference of anti-war actions called for Feb. 17 and March 17 and encourage participation in anti-war actions.

Clergy & May 1st Boycott:

We agreed that All religions should say -

Stand for Justice
Be Against Oppression

1) Boycott your church if they don't. Hold them accountable
- March vs. Boycott. Boycott is more effective.
- Bring your church on May Day.

2) Preaching; Publicizing May Day/Struggle.
- Action Item: Send press release advising Imams to speak on Khutbah and teach public.

3) Statement: Interfaith/Ecumenical with concrete steps on how to prepare and support this cause.

From John Henry Clark: Use religion like Malcolm X.

Youth & Student Workshop:

Demands -

1) Full Equality for all immigrants Now.

2) All schools and universities be sanctuaries
a)No retaliation for walkouts or any forms of protest
b)Don't ask, don't tell policy regarding immigration status
c)No law enforcement or immigration authorities allowed on campus without search warrants
d)Schools and organizations should protest students and youth who engage in political activity and/or do not have documentation

3) No military recruitment at schools. End targeting of immigrants and all youth for military recruitment.

4) Stop the war on Iraq and immediate withdrawal of all occupation troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and around the world.
