Detroit Joins in defending Elvira Arrellano

Help stop her deportation

Call for an immediate Moratorium to stop raids, deportations, employer sanctions, and separation of families. Say yes to legalization of undocumented workers.

Elvira Arrellano was working when she was arrested by “Homeland Security”during an “Operation Tarmac” raid in Chicago’s Illinois O’Hare airport. Ms Arrellano a single mother with a US born son (Saulito Arrellano) is now facing deportation. Arrellano the founder of

“La Familia Latina Unida” represents families separated (or on the verge of separation) by broken immigration laws. She recently led a sucessful hunger strike for 22 days to pressure

a stay of 26 IFCO workers under deportation orders. Ms Arrellano stood up and denounced the raids & deportations. Since then, she became a symbol and a leader of the undocumented workers in the struggle for legalization. She has pushed for a moratorium on raids and deportations of all workers.

Come and hear Pastor Walter L. Coleman from the Adalberto United Methodist Church in Chicago
Pastor Coleman will give an update on Ms Arellano's situation, and will explain

his reasons for granting her asylum in his church.

He will also talk about the Great May Day Boycott of 2007.
